Will’s Baxter Adventures

Our family adores Baxter State Park - we refer to it as a slice of heaven here on earth! It is honestly my favorite place on earth. 

My husband has been going to Baxter/hiking the mountain since he was 8, and when we married long ago and had kids, we went when they were young, and are still going, now with our grandson!

All of this got me to thinking that I'd love to share a photo of the trip my husband (Greg) and I had at the end of September with our grandson (Will) who was 10, and it was his SECOND time to the top via Abol! In October, Will wrote a story in school about the trip, and we thought that people might get a kick out of it! (Just a side note when you read it, we had the radio on low and were laughing about something silly playing, but the ranger reminded us that it was 8 pm, and we were being a little loud! We really weren't, but anyway, it was just funny. We're very respectful about the rules and I don't want anyone thinking that we're a rowdy bunch! We are the opposite of a rowdy bunch!)

Just a bit more info, in the fall of 2023, my husband, our son (Josh), and Will (then 9), hiked to the top, and in 2022 they went with my mother-in-law who was then 80 and wanted another trip to the park! In 2022 the three boys hiked up to Chimney Pond and my mother-in-law stayed back at Daicey, just enjoying the peaceful beauty of it all. We've stayed at Daicey Pond the past handful of times that we've gone, and this past September we stayed at Kidney Pond since Daicey cabins are under renovations. Both spots are heavenly for us!
