Baxter Youth Conservation Corps
The Baxter Youth Conservation Corps is a job training and service-learning opportunity for youth from the Katahdin region of Maine. Since 2017, this program has been hiring local youth for full-time summer employment doing trail work in Baxter State Park. Participants gain valuable training, job skills, and work experience in a spectacular wilderness setting.
We are hiring for up to 12 youth trail crew positions for 2026! This year’s BYCC season will run from June 29 - August 7. Crew members will now sign up to work with the BYCC for either the entire 6-week season, OR only part of the season (2 or 4 weeks). Currently enrolled students and homeschoolers from Stearns, Schenck, Katahdin, or Southern Aroostook high schools or Mattanawcook Academy are eligible to apply, as well as recent graduates of these schools (from 2024 and 2025) and seasonal residents of the Katahdin Region between the ages of 15 - 19 who live in Maine year-round. Trail crew positions pay a starting rate of $18/hr, with a $1/hr raise for every year of experience in the program.
We are proud to announce that the 2024 BYCC is receiving support from the
Maine Outdoor Learning Initiative!
